(Wk 16) Joy is…

Mauna Kea

… Capturing the perfect shot!

Mauna Kea, Big Island, Hawai’i.

5:30 pm.

Temperature in single digits.

~ 9500 ft above sea level.

A photographer perched precariously on a precipice (while the rest of us, disappointed by the mist, retreated into the warm confines of the Visitor’s Centre)…

In 30 mins or so,

The mist will clear.

The clouds will descend and cover the landscape below like a carpet.

The sky will light up with unbelievable pinks, oranges and purples.

And his daredevilry (and patience) will be rewarded –

With the perfect shot of a spectacular sunset…

What ecstasy!

(UPDATED: A couple of more photos of the place, specially at the request of Restless Jo… unfortunately I didn’t manage to catch one of the sunset).
